Label
The small dot on the O of the lettering SOPRA Sangiovese alludes to the etymological derivation of the word Sangiovese. Sangiovese is made up of the words SANgue (blood) and GIOVE (Jupiter) and the small circle on the label is a moon of Jupiter.
Vinification
Harvest by hand. Selection of berries on the vibrating table, from vintage 2020 with optical selection machine. Fermentation with indigenous yeast in steel tank followed by malolactic fermentation in French barrique in first occupancy. The 24-month aging takes place in barrique. We then carry out bottling (without filtering).
Tasting note
A lively and intense ruby red with garnet highlights. The nose is ripe and fruity, with notes of Amarena cherry, raspberry and a touch of toasted aromas. The taste is strong, hearty and energetic. The alcoholic influence is contrasted by the lively acidity typical of this grape variety and the presence of energetic tannins. The young age of the wine, does not promise a light softness and is compensated by its non banal character that invites discovery after further bottle aging.
